Welcome to the National Troopers Coalition Website. The purpose of the Coalition is to provide for the advocacy,
protection, general welfare and advancement of our members in good standing; to promote mutual aid between and among its members;
and to promote, improve and advance through all lawful and democratic means the welfare, interests and conditions of employment
of its members. Towards those ends, the Coalition shall take any lawful and reasonable steps to assert its rights, fulfill its
responsibilities, and protect its status as the recognized organization of trooper and highway patrol States.
The men and women of the National Troopers Coalition are proud and honored to be providing service to the citizenry of this
country and are privileged to have been part of this Coalition since 1977. Celebrating thirty years of dedicated law enforcement
from the east coast to the west, from north to south.
There is a strong history and tradition that surround this Coalition. There is approximately two hundred years of service
and experience currently within the ten member elected Executive Board. We have a current membership of approximately thirty
five States and over forty thousand troopers. We are from all parts of the country, all races, creeds, colors, and ethnicities.
We comprise all ranks, from all training regimens, and all facets of law enforcement. This Board will continue to provide the
best possible service to the Membership. We have and will always disseminate Coalition information in an efficient and
expeditious manner to fellow members. We will continue to do so with key issues.
Common among the States in the Coalition are issues involving staffing, budgeting, and resources to be able to achieve the
mission. We must now deal with homeland security tasks that involve new areas of responsibility. With our National Guard
deployed overseas in most States, it is the trooper, who is normally the first responder, who will be at the border of his or
her state, protecting its boundaries, at all times of the day and night. In this day and age, we must deal with the dilemma
that we still cannot communicate with our brothers and sisters in other services, whether it be Sheriffs, fire, ambulance,
National Guard, hospitals, military or any other public service entity. This failure to provide interoperability is unacceptable
and is a national issue that we will strongly advocate.
No trooper should be out in the field without protective armor, but we know that not all are provided bulletproof vests.
Our patrol vehicles must be state of the art, because these are our offices, but still some lack the safety devices needed to
insure that our troopers will come home safely after their tour of duty.
Troopers are always willing to march for days, deprived of food and sleep, but the constant "do more with less" cannot be
used when we are at war. And whether it is a war overseas or one in our own backyard, we shall answer the call, but we must be
provided the means to do so.
Over the last few years, the Executive Board has done much to improve working conditions of our troopers in other states,
rallying around them after their cry for assistance when we saw a number of troopers organizations’ manpower and equipment
being plucked away - answering the call for assistance when those organizations had issues with personnel reduction, comfortable
salaries, first class vehicles, etc. - but the work is not done.
We shall increase our lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. to insure that the State Police / Highway Patrol agencies are
allotted their fare share of the appropriations necessary to provide the basics that allow us to make this country safe.
We have a dynamic organization which is constantly changing to keep pace with the needs of our member states and the demands
for our public service. We encourage citizen participation and constructive criticism as we are constantly striving to improve
our image and effectiveness. The leadership of this Coalition is elected by its members and serves with significant and
unselfish dedication in order to maintain a professional and successful organization for its members’ benefit.
The Executive Board is pleased to provide you with an excellent network of communication that will attempt to keep you up
to date on current issues. We are ready, willing and able to assist you at all times.
Please make use of the information contained herein. If any other assistance or information is needed, do not hesitate to
contact myself or any of the other
Executive Board members.
We look forward to hearing from you.
